Job 30:31 (New American Standard Bible)
31"Therefore my harp is turned to mourning, and my flute to the sound of those who weep.”
Remember how the Psalmist David played his harp for King Saul and he would find relief from the evil spirits that were tormenting him? There is healing in music. Music, all by its lonely, has the power to heal.
Now I am not referring to good Godly counsel being delivered by anointed wordsmithing in the songs, although I delight in that! I am referring to simple music being played as a psalmist often did… in an instrumental piece.
There are so many styles and classifications of music today that no one can even come close to saying what is the right music for you. Of course I mean Christian music… but there is Christian rock, Christian country, Christian pop, Christian traditional hymns, southern gospel music, African-American gospel music, Christian alternative… the list goes on and will never end. But you need to identify the music that calms the storms in your life. You need to let the music heal you.
Job 30:31 says that our music should be turned to those in mourning and to those who are weeping. The Amplified Bible infers that the pipe, or the flute, becomes the voice of those who weep. My wife, Reneé plays her flute in worship. I like to say that she “prays” her flute as she wanders out into the congregation and plays her flute over those as God leads her. I have seen, as well as many others, people respond to the prayer that Reneé plays as she plays over them. Much the same as when David played his harp for King Saul, the soul of those that she plays over are lifted and they find healing.
Then once the “prophetic” playing of Reneé’s flute is done then rejoicing begins.
Job 21:12 (New American Standard Bible)
12"They sing to the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the flute.”
Let the healing of Godly music wash over you and may you find healing.
